DARE FY2011 CALL FOR HABITAT PROJECTS- Deadline October 4, 2010

The Driftless Area Restoration Effort is requesting project proposals to restore and conserve habitats that benefit brook trout, smallmouth bass, and/or nongame fish and herptile species. Federal funding available under the National Fish Habitat Action Plan through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be used to fund top ranked proposals. All proposed projects should be developed in coordination with the La Crosse Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Applications must be received in electronic form by COB October 4, 2010 for following year funding. Proposals received after the deadline will not be considered.

Proposals should range from $15,000 to $40,000 in grant request and must have at least a 1:1 match from other sources. Funds may only be used for on-the-ground habitat conservation and improvement projects, related design and associated biological monitoring activities. National Fish Habitat Action Plan funds cannot be used for acquisition in fee or easement.

Applicants will be notified of their project’s ranking score and funding status as that information becomes available.
