We plan to use this year’s symposium to start the development of a white paper, produced by a panel of restoration experts. The panel will review the best-available science regarding Driftless Area stream restoration (including stream ecology, fisheries, and management) and critique and connect the design elements used in Driftless Area stream restoration, while also acknowledging the practical constraints to restoration such as cost, excess sediment from historical land use, private lands, funding, etc.
Economic, Social and Humand Drivers in Agriculture and Watershed Management
Sessions will focus on new tools and resources that have been developed to incorporate economic factors into watershed planning and implementation; how social science enhances collaborative efforts to achieve conservation outcomes; and potential session(s) that bring the human perspective into the discussion.
